What does my dog need to visit?
A completed application (via the "Apply Now" button above), with current vaccination records: DHPP (or a variation), Rabies, Bordetella, Canine Influenza, and an annual fecal test covering both Giardia Antigen and Ova/Parasites. We also require proof of current flea/tick treatment, and a collar that follows our guidelines. After we've received everything, our team will contact you to schedule an introductory visit: an Assessment.
How does the Assessment work?
Each new dog visits for a complimentary four-hour assessment, where they can be introduced gradually to play groups and team members. To schedule an assessment: complete the steps above and our team will reach out; these are done by appointment only. And if your dog is shy the first time, that's completely fine! We can always try again.
What happens if my dog gets muddy?
We can give him a bath, depending on our bathers' availability and the length of your dog's stay!
How are play groups decided?
Even within a family, each dog is individually assessed and placed in a play group by energy level, temperament, and play style. This could be a "calm and casual" group for mellow dogs of all sizes, high-energy groups for adolescents and adults, puppy groups sorted by play style, or the dedicated senior group. All groups rotate hourly between play outside and rest inside, so everyone has time to rest and refresh.
Do I need a reservation, and how do I book?
Outside of holidays, Daycare rarely needs a reservation, but we suggest one in case capacity is reached. Boarding, and additional services (such as training) always require a reservation. For holiday hours, see below. To book, email
dogs@alphadoglodging.com, call
(415) 383-2111, or stop by the front desk.
All reservations (and services) during holiday/peak periods need to be confirmed by our front desk team, including standing reservations. They typically require a non-refundable deposit with a minimum stay. Packages and credits cannot be applied toward a deposit. Peak periods include Ski Week, Spring Break, Memorial Day Weekend, 4th of July, Labor Day Weekend, Thanksgiving, and Christmas & New Year's.
What are your hours?
- Non-holiday hours
- Drop-off 7am–7pm, ideally before 4pm
- Pick-up 7am–7pm, with late pick-ups allowed until 10pm for a $20 fee
- Holiday hours
- Drop-off 7am–3pm, with late drop-offs allowed until 7pm for a $46 fee
- Pick-up 7am–7pm, with two additional fees: 7–8pm is a $10 fee, and 8–10pm is an extra $20 for a total of $30
Can I bring food and medication?
We prefer dogs stay on their own diet to avoid tummy troubles, but our house Kirkland Lamb & Rice kibble is available for a small fee. Medication and supplements can be given, and need to be labeled with clear directions.
Do you use crates or kennels?
When they are not playing outside, dogs will rest in a crate or kennel in one of our five temperature-controlled buildings. Dogs from the same family sleep together overnight, but may spend some time apart during the day if they are in different groups. You're welcome to bring a bed, blankets, and bones to offer during rest times, but we also have those here at no extra charge.
What's your spay/neuter policy? And what about heat cycles?
The team monitors each intact dog individually for behaviors, so they may ask that a dog be altered sooner or wait until after altering to return, in order to keep group play safe. We unfortunately can't accept dogs during a heat cycle, as we'd rather avoid any surprises. Your pup is welcome back as soon as their heat ends or they recover from surgery, and is cleared by their vet for both.
Can I see what my dog is up to?
If you join our "Pupdates" program, we send out pictures every other day during boarding. Email your dog's first and last name to
pupdates@alphadoglodging.com to sign up! You can also follow us on
Instagram for general updates.
